The construction of Ofeliahaven in Helsingør begins

Balder Danmark begins the construction of 109 residences at the old hospital area in Helsingør. Ofeliahaven is built with a main focus on community, quality of life and sustainability. The property is expected to be finished by the end of 2022.

“Ofeliahaven offers brand-new apartments with modern styling and sustainable solutions and with an engaging courtyard for the tenants. We have made the effort to create a cozy green oasis close to the forest and with the beach only 2 kilometers away, all while you are in reach of the center of Helsingør. Here you will find cozy alleys with old historical buildings and a vibrant city life with shops, cafes and restaurants.”

This is how the CEO of Balder Danmark, Flemming Joseph Jensen, expresses his excitement about the company’s latest project.

Ofeliahaven has two residential areas, each consisting of four properties. Each area is arranged in the shape of a horseshoe with central courtyards. The property accommodates 109 residences that varies in size from 2-5 bedrooms spread on 60-120 m2. The apartments are suitable for singles, couples, families and seniors.

Focus on community, quality of life and sustainability

Flemming Joseph Jensen emphasizes that Ofeliahaven is designed with some special keywords in mind.

“We have had a main focus on creating an ideal setting for community to enhance the quality of life at Ofeliahaven. It is manifested in the way the courtyards are designed with the combination of playgrounds and relaxing seating areas with tables and benches. These facilities make both children and adults feel welcome. The focus on community is also seen in the orangery, where a small kitchen will be available and a large sitting area ideal for birthday parties and other cozy events,” he says.

Sustainability also has a significant role in the creation of this project. According to Flemming Joseph Jensen, the project is based on the requirements of the internationally recognized DGNB certification scheme that is based on a holistic understanding of sustainability.

“We have done a lot to make Ofeliahaven a sustainable project. As an example, we have chosen solid and well-known materials for the property to ensure a sustainable operation.  In the courtyards, we will integrate LAR solutions, which will process rainwater in a sustainable manner,” he says.
