The rain did not deter the many visitors when Sammen om Greve took place on 4 September. Residents and three politicians stopped by Hundige Stationsbro, where Balder and our partners hosted a Dream Café and communal dinner.
Communal dinner at Sammen om Greve 2026
Every year, the cultural event Sammen om Greve brings together associations, cultural institutions, businesses and other local organisations for a day filled with activities for children and adults alike. The aim is to strengthen the local community and showcase the many opportunities Greve, including Hundige, has to offer.
This year, Balder contributed to the programme with a Dream Café and a communal dinner in close collaboration with Greve Library, Café & Restaurant Portalen and Greve Youth School.
At the Dream Café, which was open from 3 to 5 pm and offered free coffee and cake, children, young people and adults were invited to share their hopes for Hundige. Despite the wet weather, up to 100 local residents gathered around the tables with their chequered tablecloths, where lively conversations and inspiring ideas for improving the area soon emerged.
Two members of Greve Municipal Council’s Hundige Committee, Mehmet Zeki Dogru from the Red-Green Alliance and Brigitte Klitskov Jerkel from the Conservative People’s Party, also attended the Dream Café. They had the opportunity to listen to residents’ thoughts and talk to them about how Hundige can develop, as well as what already makes the area a good place to live.
Nadia Kirk Westhausen from Strandby Høje
One of the residents who braved the rain and stopped by with her son was Nadia Kirk Westhausen, who lives at Balder’s Strandby Høje property:
“It is wonderful to see attention being given to our hopes for the area. It is already a lovely place to live, but more positive initiatives that can strengthen the neighbourhood are certainly welcome. My son and I had a lovely time, and we also enjoyed the delicious cake,” she says.
The ideas were many and varied, but recurring suggestions included better cycling conditions, improved safety around the station, better play areas in the neighbourhood and improvements to the network of paths connecting Hundige’s residential areas. Balder and Greve Library are now compiling the ideas and will present them to the Municipal Council’s Hundige Committee (Hundige Helhedsplan §17, stk. 4-udvalget).
When the clock struck 6 pm, the Dream Café was transformed into a welcoming communal dinner. The rain continued, but fortunately, so did the conversations among the approximately 55 dinner guests.
One of the guests was the Mayor of Greve, Pernille Beckmann:
“The communal dinner was a wonderful opportunity to meet other people from the neighbourhood and talk about the things that matter to us in our daily lives. I was delighted by the many conversations and the sense of community that emerged around the tables. I greatly appreciate Balder’s commitment to the local community and the opportunities it creates for people to come together,” she says.
Balder owns and manages Strandby Høje and Strandby Huse, which together comprise more than 300 rental homes close to Hundige Station. Our commitment to Hundige is not only about buildings and homes, but also about the people and communities that bring the area to life.
“We have been actively involved in Hundige for several years and have come to know both the area and many of the people who live here. Although the late-summer weather was not at its best, the day offered a warm reminder that a sense of community does not depend on sunshine and that dreams truly are meant to thrive.
