A home in the hills: Rental of the first apartments in Green Hills has started

Green Hills gårrum

The ambitious courtyard with lake, zip-line, training facilities and more is just one of the features future residents can look forward to enjoying.

Come fall, the first residents will move into the ambitious, newly built residential property Green Hills and last weekend marked the official kick-off of the first 64 apartments.

On Sunday the 24th of April, 78 groups of people had showed up at the construction site to visit Green Hills’ sample apartment and get the opportunity to reserve one of the released apartments. The mood was great and the scene was set with flowers, balloons, and cupcakes. Due to the great interest, the event was exclusively for those who had already signed up for the list of interest last year - and by the time the event was over, 10 out of the 64 released apartments had already been reserved.

“We have made a great effort to create quality homes for all generations, built on visions of functionality, openness, aesthetics, and environmentally conscious thinking. At the same time, Solrød offers many of the things our customers ask for: proximity to nature, a vibrant city, and a well-functioning infrastructure,” says Flemming Joseph Jensen, CEO of Balder Denmark, who are behind Green Hills.

"Luckily, there are still many apartments to be released during the next three stages of the project as well, so I believe that most of those who want to can find their new home in Green Hills," he continues.

A green oasis with high ambitions

Green Hills was designed by the award-winning Danielsen Architects. Danielsen Urban Landscape has been responsible for the ambitious courtyard of approximately 4 hectares, which offers both a zip-line, island landscape and a lake that can handle large amounts of rainwater.

In addition to the bright apartments with well-thought-out floor plans, the residents of Green Hills will have access to a wide range of communal facilities, designed to create an everyday life with community and balance. When the property is completed, it will contain e.g. a guest lounge with a home office, parking for strollers, gym facilities, a workshop and a function room, which can be used for both private events and neighbourly get-togethers.

“The vision of Green Hills is to create a good and safe home for all generations with the best possible environment. Therefore, we have also considered what makes sense to share among neighbours - e.g. tools, so they do not have to occupy square meters in the individual apartments. In addition, we have tried to add facilities and good outdoor areas that both add value to the property as a whole as well as form the backdrop for the informal meetings between the residents that can support a growing community,” says Alexander Barlow, project manager at Balder.

Focus on sustainability from the very start

Green Hills is conceived and built based on the requirements of the internationally recognized sustainability certification DGNB, which contains high standards for both social, economic and environmental sustainability. The property is pre-certified for DGNB Gold and is expected to obtain this certificate when completed.

"Green Hills is a name that commits - it's not just about architecture, but also about implementing greener solutions, wherever possible," says project manager Alexander Barlow, and continues:

“Many of the solutions we have come up with are value-creating for both nature and the residents. For example, placing a particular variant of sedum on the roof, as well as the lake in the courtyard both contribute to the biodiversity and rainwater management, while at the same time creating a distinct aesthetic expression.”

The choice of material is also well thought out, where solid materials with a long lifespan and low maintenance are a priority. But in fact, the sustainable ambitions are also reflected in everything that is not part of the final building: the DGNB scheme, for example, places high demands on the sorting and disposal of waste from the construction site, which also applies to all our subcontractors.

Completed in mid-2023

A property the size of Green Hills has to be completed in several stages, and in this case, there are four of them. The fourth and final stage is expected to be completed in mid-2023. But the first residents will already move in this autumn and Balder is looking forward to it:

"It's always a very big day for us when the first residents move into a new property - that's where the property really comes to life," concludes Flemming Joseph Jensen.
