During this week Balder Danmark will start the construction of a new project in Solrød, Green Hills, which will become more than an aesthetic landmark for the commune. It will become a sustainable pioneering project that accommodates housing opportunities for people of all ages.

In December 2019, Solrød Commune announced that Balder Danmark had won the public tender of the attractive ground on Cordozavej in Solrød. In this week, only 11 months later, Balder will begin the construction of the property, which has received much attention due to its sustainable profile, great architecture and appeal to all generations. The property is expected to be completed in 2023.

Green Hills stands to get gold in sustainability

When Solrød Commune sent the plot of land in tender, it was with high demands on architecture, composition of the houses and finally sustainability. The Commune saw their high demands to be redeemed by Balder Danmark’s sustainable property project, which is why Balder Danmark won the tender.
Recently, the local plan for Green Hills was finally adopted, and the project is facing a gold certificate in the internationally acknowledged DGNB certification scheme.

“Green Hills’s construction is done out of a holistic view on sustainability were among other things, environmental, economic and social sustainability is contemplated. The project becomes a good example on how to build sustainably today. We expect that Green Hills gets a gold certificate,” tells Flemming Joseph Jensen, CEO of Balder Danmark.

Green Hills is established in a collaboration between Balder Danmark, Bovieran Danmark, Sjælsø Management, MOE and Danielsen Architecture.

“It has been exciting to design this project which is characterized by the green roof surfaces that rises to the sky and meet at a peak on the 9th floor. The name Green Hills is inspired by this design,” tells Kasper Danielsen, CEO of Danielsen Architecture.

The property will accommodate 350 homes, whereby 294 of them will be built by Balder Danmark. In the heart of the construction, Bovieran Danmark will built a cohabitation for seniors that will accommodate 55 apartments as well as a guest house.

Here generations can live side by side

According to Flemming Joseph Jensen, the varied housing composition of the buildings, means that everyone can live here, both families, seniors, couples, singles and young people.

“We aim to create a construction where there is space for all generations, and where one has the option to live here their whole life. The thought is that a family consisting of several generations can live in the same property and be close to one another and take care of each other. This creates a strong safety net and joy among tenants. The housing project is completely unique, and our vision makes it, in my belief, extraordinary,” says Flemming.
